The user is experiencing deadlocks on the DTA database of BizTalk's BizTalkDTADb. The Event Viewer is showing the following error message:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: BAM EventBus Service
Time out occurred while executing the event data. This is a non critical
error and the BAM Event bus service will try resubmitting the data again.

SQLServer: BIZTALK, Database: BizTalkDTADb.Stored Procedure dtasp_CtxEnd
failed to run.Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to
completion of the operation or the server is not responding..

This problem is not related to the Attunity BizTalk Gateway. It's an issue with managing the BizTalk DTA. When the BizTalk server is processing so many requests and the DTA is enabled, the BizTalkDTADb database may get very large in size, thus posing some performance problems.

The solution is to well manage this facility, there are so many articles about the subject and how to configure it and measure the possible sizes.

The user should have a policy to purge and backup (archive) this database, we will include some of the most useful articles on the subject.

Also note that starting from BizTalk 2004 SP2 and BizTalk 2006, there is a SQL Job call "DTA Purge and Archive (BizTalkDTADb)" which helps managing the DTA archiving.
