Globally Setting NLS at the System Level

AIS supports an alternative mechanism for setting the default language for an installation. Such a setting may be useful in the following cases:

    1. When there are many different binding definitions, this method can save the need to define the language for each one.

    2. When using an ODBC thin API

NoteWhen this option is used, no environment definition (via Studio, in NOS or on the connection string) may specify a different language. A different codepage may still be specified.

To set the language at the system level
Define an environment variable by the name ACLANG with a value based on the following pattern:

    [language]:[codepage]

    For example:
    LAT:Windows-1252

The environment variable should be defined in an appropriate place, in accordance with the operating system in use.
