HOW TO: Getting the list of Audit Trails on the Tandem/TMF

Getting the list of Audit Trails on the Tandem/TMF

Getting the list of Audit trail files on the Tandem/TMF maybe helpful in many cases, for example:

    1. The user wants to set the starting point of capturing new changes by setting a master audit trail (MAT) sequence number in the CDC AGENT.

    2. Make sure that there are active audit trail files and inspect the dates of the changes.

Follow these steps to extract the volume and the sequence numbers of the audit trails:

    1. Login to the HP NonStop/Tandem machine and perform the following command:
    tmfcom status tmf
This command will show the status of the TMF, and we can extract the volume where these files are located.
    2. Go to the volume extracted in the previous step, $AUDIT.ZTMFAT in this case, and perform fileinfo to see the list of files.
Other than getting the sequence number you can notice the dates of each audit trail file. This could give an indication about the dates of the changes within each sequence file.
