Informix configuration issues on the Unix platforms

    DESCRIPTION

Here are some common error messages when working with Attunity Server and the Informix driver.

PROBLEM 1 - Error -1829: Unable to load locale categories.

The error is reported when the INFORMIXDIR environment variable is not setup correctly. This variable should be set to the root directory of the Informix installation.

PROBLEM 2 - Error -25596: The INFORMIXSERVER value is not listed in the sqlhosts file or the Registry.

The error is reported when the INFORMIXSERVER variable is not set correctly.

Check the sqlhosts configuration file which is located at the INFORMIXDIR/etc directory.

    PROBLEM 3

The Attunity Server is unable to load the Informix Driver shareable on the Unix platform (in this case HP UNIX):
No such file or directory; at FIND_IMAGE_SYMBOL [C079] Failed to load dynamic library 'nvdb_inf' PATH /usr/local/navroot/bin: /bin: /usr/bin: /usr/ucb:

SHLIB_PATH = /usr/local/navroot/lib: /usr/lib [C077] Could not find symbol 'INFORMIX' in dynamic library
    SOLUTION

This could mean that the wrong Informix driver is being used. The Attunity Server is bundled with two Informix shareables:-
    • nvdbinf.sl (or .so for the other Unix platforms)
    • nvdbinf9.sl
The default is the Informix 7 driver. In order to work Informix 9 and newer you have to manually copy the driver as follows:-
    1. Shutdown the Attunity Server daemon.
    2. Rename the nvdb_inf.sl to nvdb_inf7.sl. The driver is located at the NAVROOT/lib directory.
    3. Copy the nvdb_inf9.sl to nvdb_inf.sl.
    4. Start the daemon.
    5. Retest the scenario.
