    Starting irpcd from LINUX

    Description

    "nv:3:once:navroot/bin/irpcd start >/dev/console 2>&1" is added into /etc/inittab but IRPCD cannot start automatically.

    This problem may not occurr on all RedHat Linux.

    Solution

    Use BASH instead of CSH.
    Remove the entry in the /etc/inittab to start the IRPCD. Instead add this to the end of the /etc/rc.d/rc.local:

    echo Settings IRPCD parameters
    if [ -f /usr/local/navroot/bin/nav_login.sh ]; then
    . /usr/local/navroot/bin/nav_login.sh;
    fi

    echo Starting IRPCD daemon
    if [ -f /usr/local/navroot/bin/irpcd ]; then
    /usr/local/navroot/bin/irpcd start;
    fi
