RFI: Question regarding setting up of impersonation for a secure binding/workspace/da

    Description
I am having problems with setting up connections to a secure datasource. What I want to happen is for the application to provide username/password credentials and for these to be authenticated by the VMS box. The datasource has its own binding and workspace.

Please advise on best way to implement impersonation as I am having problems getting it to work.

    Solution

This solution is applicable to all platforms except AS/400

    In order to use impersonation:

    1) You should use : workspaceAccount=' (as in an empty value)

    In Studio
Select Daemons for the Server and expand
Right click on the appropriate workspace and select edit
    Select the tab "WS Security"
Make sure that no value exist in the Workspace account
    Uncheck Allow anonymous client login
    Save changes

    2. Add environment variable (allowBlindImpersonation is only applicable to tandem !!!)
Select the binding appropriate for the workspace above, right click and edit
Under the environment parameters you should see an element called "tmpFeature" add the following:

    id - allowBlindImpersonation
    value - 0

Then the client will have to supply Username/Password via the connection and the server will impersonate.
