Oracle connector 1.2 error: Error Failed to load OCI method. OCIDirPathFinish

    Hi all,

We're using the Attunity Oracle connector 1.2 with SSIS 2012. We're running on a x64 bit machine, with both the 32 & 64-bit Oracle clients installed and configured. We run about 6 data flow tasks in parallel retrieving different tables from Oracle into SQL Server 2012.

We've been running in this environment for about 3 months now, and haven't encountered an issue. However, recently, we received the following error message, causing one of our data flow tasks to fail (the other 5 running in parallel completed successfully). Rerunning the affected packages completed successfully, however we are trying to understand why the error occurred, and what, if anything, we can do about it (in terms of redesigning our packages).

    The error we received is:
Failed to load OCI method. OCIDirPathFinish

    Thanks, in advance.

That is a strange error indeed. This error is reported during the dynamic loading of the Oracle client. Specifically, the symbol OCIDirPathFinish is being loaded from the Oracle client DLL and this loading (a regular GetProcAddress) fails. This occurs immediately after loading other symbols in the same way without an error.

Is this error a repeating error or was it a one-time instance?

When saying these tasks run in parallel, how do you run them?

    Thanks for your response.

This was a one-time occurrence. On rerun, the package completed successfully. In the 3 months that we've been running this package, this is the first time we received this error.

We have a parent-child relationship in our packages: Parent package calls 6 child packages, all executing in parallel, each of which uses the Attunity oracle connector to retrieve data from different Oracle tables.

Parent package - does not connect to Oracle; invokes the following child packages, all executing in parallel, hitting the same Oracle source, but different tables:
Calls Child Package 1 - connects to Oracle and retrieves data from table 1
Calls Child Package 2 - connects to Oracle and retrieves data from table 2
Calls Child Package 3 - connects to Oracle and retrieves data from table 3
Calls Child Package 4 - connects to Oracle and retrieves data from table 4
Calls Child Package 5 - connects to Oracle and retrieves data from table 5
Calls Child Package 6 - connects to Oracle and retrieves data from table 6

    The errors were:
