    Client connection error

Attunity is current running on an OpenVMS AlphaServer 800. While connecting locally, (Class C IP 10.2.1.0) from client IP 10.2.1.41, everything works as expected. While connecting from a public IP to a mapped public IP of 207.181.131.252, I can configure and connect the server, however, while creating the DSN in the OCBC manager, I receive the error as described by the attachment. Any suggestions of where to go from here would be most appreciated.

    Thank You,
    Bob

    Hi Bob,

The scenario you describe is one of fixed NAT. Essentially, the client needs to know that the server is 'hiding' behind a network address translation layer.

If the ODBC DSN refers to a remote datasource, then its remote machine definition must specify firewallProtocol='fixednat'

This is also available from Studio by editing the binding, then on the Machines tab select the remote machine press the Network button. There you can specify the firewall protocol to be fixednat.

There are other means for achieving the same using other interfaces - you did not give enough details to tell you exactly what to do in your case (though this is also in the user guide).
