    Custom Logging

    Hi there,

I've played with the various logging settings both on the bindings/debug screen and the workspace settings under daemons - both in studio.

I can't seem to get exactly what I need - is there a way to customise the logs?

    I'd like to see...

    1. Current values for VMS Logical values on connection
    2. Windows user, datetime on connection
    3. All calls to sql/functions - log the name and parameters
    4. Log errors/warning etc
    5. whether connection got returned to the pool or destroyed

    Any ideas?

    regards,

    Jim.

    1. Current values for OpenVMS Logical values on connection

Add "SHOW LOG *" to the NAVROOT:[BIN]NAV_SERVER.COM and you will see the logical names. They typically do not change during execution

    2. Windows user, datetime on connection

The server on the OpenVMS side has no idea what is the Windows user identity. The username/password the OpenVMS side sees is that of an OpenVMS user.

For connection timestamp, set the timeTrace option and then all lines will be tagged with a timestamp, including the informational messages about connections and disconnections.

    3. All calls to sql/functions - log the name and parameters

Not clear what database you are using but driverTrace shows various backend related trace information. For the front end, it is apiTrace.

    4. Log errors/warning etc

That what are all the traceXxxx options are for. Errors and warnings are always logged.

    5. whether connection got returned to the pool or destroyed

That is a function of the container at the 'client' (or mid-tier) side.
